She looked at my emails on the purchase and the pickup on the Surface Laptop 3. She verified that my purchase does have the 15 month family plan included as part of the promotion. Back and forth a few more times with email and further verifying my identity. She sent me the email, and remotely activated link and the 15 months subscription for my Family plan that came with my new Microsoft laptop.
All in all, this was a hours on the phone between Costco and Microsoft, wish it never happened but everyone on the line was really trying to help, I appreciated. Okay, Microsoft got some points back. So for whoever has the same problem, just call Microsoft, forgot about Costco.
Also learned, while stuck on no Office, do not try to buy any cheap old Office think to use it just temporarily, OR even buy Office and pay monthly thinking to cancel it later, I was told doing either will “complicate” the Office program already installed on your new computer. In addition to its return policy, Costco also offers to extend the warranty for most electronics beyond the basic manufacturer warranties.
