I’ll tell you why? Aac is noisier as a codec as simple as that. It is excellent at lower bitrates where Lame cannot compete especially with he-aac excellent for radio station vocal broadcasts as indeed is aac LC at 64kbps , but analysing music files with tools like Magic or Audacity etc via one sees artifacts such as clicking, noise, hiss etc. Regarding music problems are much less encoding to mp3 using Lame. Ease of use without a GUI is difficult but use a Dropbox or dBpoweramp for your conversions you get quality everytime.
