Rendering is very CPU intensive. The more CPU you can throw at it, the better. This is a universal law of digital video. The higher the bitrate, the bigger the file. The lower the bitrate, the smaller the file. However eventually lowering bitrate will affect quality. You need to find a balance between bitrate and quality. No, you cannot create a DVD Video disc with that output. Read my blog here. Hi Christopher This is a complex topic and there is no clear answer. This is the setting you should be using that best matches your Graphics Card.

When this encode mode is used, your Graphics Card will be doing most of the work, so there is no need for the CPU to go any higher.

This is perfectly normal. RAM usage also is a complex area. For many average projects, Vegas does not need to use all the RAM that is available – it uses only what it needs. If you rendered to Windows Media Video. Bottom line is you don’t have anything to worry about. This topic has been discussed over and aver again for many years on the Sony Creative Software Forums. There are plenty of old discussions you can search and read on the Sony Forums.

All the best. Derek . I am still using an Nvidia GTX in my own computer and use it all the time for rendering to Mainconcept AVC – it works very, very well and definitely renders faster than my over-clocked Intel ik.

There is a wide selection on 2nd hand Nvidia graphics cards for sale on eBay. Please note that version 11 of Vegas was only a 32bit program. This limits rendering ability quite a bit. If you are on a newer 64bit computer and want to get the maximum power out of the program, you need to upgrade to Movie Studio Platinum 13 64bit edition. My guess is that version 14 will be released some time in the New Year, so maybe look out for that and then upgrade.

To export MP4 video from. Start rendering. Here are some solutions to Sony Vegas crashing. For the fact that a lot of users have been complaining about the crashing problem, Magix has been releasing updates after updates with a lot of bug fixes and new features.

Some of Sony Vegas’s older versions had difficulty accessing enough CPU memory, so if you’re facing a problem along those lines, then an update is what you need. Ensure you download it from the official website or a reliable source to avoid the issue of piracy and virus infection. There are times when Sony Vegas freezes or crashes while rendering-especially if it is a large file. This should solve the rendering problem in Sony Vegas. Follow these steps to turn it off:.

Note: If you cannot find the Troubleshooting tab in the Advanced Settings, that means the graphics card on your computer does not support Hardware Acceleration. Furthermore, it is possible for a single video file from your timeline to cause the crash. Try playing them one at a time to isolate the video with the issue. Sometimes, the problem is that your computer cannot meet up with Sony Vegas software’s demands. It requires a lot of hardware power to function properly. Also, ensure you close all other heavy programs while Sony Vegas is running to free up more CPU resources for the video editing software.

This is due to hardware incompatibility, unsupported codecs, or even wrong settings. Sony Vegas supports a handful of video formats that it can easily read, so convert the video to a compatible format using a video converter.

And install QuickTime player too. Sony Vegas crashes happen without warning. You might be immersed in your video editing or rendering,g and it will just crash. You’ll lose all your unsaved work, and that just downright sucks. You can solve the crashing problem by changing a few settings in Sony Vegas. Follow the steps below to change the settings:. When you download plug-ins from unreliable sources, they sometimes come with unwanted bugs, often hidden in the program files. These bugs take up space and interfere with your computer’s performance.

By clearing them, you give Sony Vegas a chance to run smoothly without interference. When you clear an application program cache, it resets it to its default installation settings. So, save all your projects before the cleaning begins. Here is how to clear Vegas programs cache:. This is also true for Sony Vegas to work properly. It’s a requirement and applies to several versions of Vegas’s video editing software such as the Vegas Pro 13 version and all other versions before it.

When Vegas Pro 14 was released, installing QuickTime was no longer a requirement. You should find out what version of the Sony Vegas you are using and if it requires installing QuickTime to function correctly. However, Apple stopped supporting QuickTime in Windows 8. But, if your version of Sony Vegas still requires a QuickTime player to be installed on your computer, then the trick is to install the QuickTime 7. Another solution to Sony Vegas’s crashing problem is to remove all unwanted media from your Project Media Window to free up resources.

More resources mean your projects can load much easier.

And what is the best choice for small videos? What happens if I increase it? The same goes with Number of slices and Two-Pass. Does changing the frame rate and maintaining the bit rate have any effect on the video quality? Just use one of the defaults.

They are designed to provide good results without having to learn about all the options. Two rules of thumb: Using anything other than the original source frame rate makes it worse. With certain exceptions Higher bitrate within the same codec provides better quality, with a LOT of provisos.

You may want to take a short segment with moderate motion, 10 or 15 seconds and experiment with different settings to see what the effects are for yourself. As a beginner, I think you should simply use one of the defaults. But I think this platform is too complicated for a beginner in editing. Good luck! Hi, I also think you should use one of the defaults. You are a guest Sign Up? Login Now. Render options for low quality non HD project? When I say low quality, it’s more like medium really except that it’s from a DV video camera, copied to VHS, then to DVD, then to hard drive and then converted from avi to mp4 through Handbrake. It’s been through the washer a bit, but is still surprisingly clear and the sound is incredible. The mp4 is 4 Gb. Clearly I can’t push this up to HD, but I’d like to know the most appropriate codec to use for rendering if anyone could help me.

Thanks and cheers! Then bump up the Bit Rate setting so you get a nice clear image. I use 12 Mbps High and 6 Mbps Average. You could use lower or higher settings – do some experiments.

I do everything like u say. In fact the options were the same like yours, before I check it! And after I click render, there is an error again! For anyone to help with this problem, you have to at the very least give the error that you’re getting. Hi Derek Just wondering if Amd Radeon r9 series can be used for rendering under sony platinum 13? Your site and video channel quite useful. And if you have I’m sorry! I was having some problems with opening project. I figured out that turning off GPU acceleration in the main options setting solved that problem.

But rendering video using only the CPU significantly lengthened the rendering time and “rendered” the PC useless for other tasks. I’m running an AMD Athlon 3.

I say “ugh” about Windows 8. Forgot your username? Create an account. When you purchase through links on this site, we may earn an affiliate commission.

Start Prev 1 2 Next End 1 2. However rendering keeps failing after about 8 mins in. The progress bar and the preview pane freeze but the estimated time to completeion keeps counting down as the time elapsed counts up. I let it run through to the estimated time reached zero.

Nothinh happened. I rebooted and tried again- same result. Any thoughts, please? Last Edit: 22 May by Brian. Thanks: Hi Brian What is located in that exact part of the project on the Vegas timeline? What type of video is located here? Where did it come from? A Video Effect you have applied 2.

Type of video you have added to project 3. When it happened to myself recently, it ended up being the type of video I had used, that had been encoded with a non-standard format – it was a video I had recorded with OBS screen capture program. Regards Derek.

Hi Derek, Thanks for your reply. I have not had this freezing problem before. Second, in the 4 attempts I have made to render this project, it has not always frozen at the same spot. Each time though, the video was a m2ts file with ac-3 stereo. No video effects at those points. I have later in the project used some screen capture done with “Debut” and I have used that before with no problem. However the rendering had not got to that part of the project. Third, I have not tried any other method as I do not sufficiently understand.

Was this right or wrong?. It rendered but when completed I had trouble opening the file. I checked that the app was working by loading in a known file and that worked fine. I am attaching some screen shots of what I do. Image 3 is what I selected at your suggestion and image 4 is what comes up when rendering complete. Thanks again. DErek, Hold the front page!
