Windows 10 wont shut down my computer all the way free download

My computer, running the latest version of Windows 10 Version , won’t shut down completely. After pressing “shut down”, the monitor, keyboard, and mouse all turn off. However the actual computer itself remains running The weird thing is, the “restart” function works perfectly fine.

In fact everything except for the “shut down” function on my computer works perfectly. I’ll include a list of everything I’ve tried below. I’ve tried everything I can think of Thank you! Turn the monitor back on, type on the keyboard and move the mouse if it helps, and see if you get a notification that Windows is having a problem shutting down a particular app. Try to find out which app won’t shut down. Look in Task Manager and shut it down from there.

When you turn the monitor back on and get the black screen did you try typing on the keyboard and moving the mouse to see if you get a picture? When you get the black screen try unplugging the cable that runs from your computer to the monitor and replug it. Try finding the app in Task Manager that you think might not be shutting down and shut it down.

Try doing a system restore to a restore point in time before this started happening. I still think it’s an installed app found in Task Manager background processes not shutting down. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
