I logged into MS and it is not listed. You can run Belarc Advisor to see if it was installed and if it was, the product key will be revealed, too. If it was never installed and the install disk and product key was not included in the paperwork and materials with the laptop, then there is not much I can do to help any further.
Getting the software is the easy part, but you need to have the product key to activate it. Since it has been two years, I do not see any help from Microsoft or HP without any of those items. Well , looks better. Did Belarc Advisor indicate if the Microsoft Office Home and Student had been installed and show the product key, if it indeed was?
That is unfortunate. What can be done, if you can find the product key, it can be downloaded from Microsoft and then installed. I would search through all of the paperwork and materials that came with the PC again. The product key is really all that is needed. It should be with the software disk but it might be on a piece of paper with the download link.
If you cannot locate that, it would seem that another call or visit to where the purchase was made is in order. BTW: this is a user to user forum and only some HP employees frequent here. I would start with the place you purchased the item and ask for some help.

If you have an Office for home product and bought Office at a retail store or online store, but don’t have a Microsoft account, it’s possible you haven’t redeemed your product key yet if you got one , or you missed the step for linking your recent purchase with an account.
Do the following to link an account with Office. For an Office for home product, go to office. Your account is successfully associated with Office when you see the page, My Office Account followed by your Microsoft account email address, and a button to install Office.

After signing in with your work or school account you don’t see an option to install the desktop applications on the Microsoft home page, go directly to the Microsoft Software page instead.

If you still don’t see an option to install Office on the Microsoft Software page, it’s possible your admin hasn’t assigned a license to you. Find out if you have a license to install Office. Not all versions of Office include a key, but if yours did, you need to redeem it before you can install Office. Follow the remaining prompts to finish linking your Microsoft account with this version of Office.

There are also other links if needed with information. You will need to create a Mcrosoft Account if you havent already in order to download. FYI-If you cannot find the MPI card with the office key code and you had previously activated your version of office with Microsoft their still should be a record.

View solution in original post. All I have is a registration number and a dell part number. Correction: All I have is a dell part number and a product key for office. Plus I have a bar code of some sort. Microsoft Office Since version has been online download for some time now. I too am a user.
