In reply to Noor ul Hadi’s post on August 9, Hi Noor!! I’ve found a solution that works fine. I’ve switched to a local account and changed my username, then change the user folder from youss to youssouf using registry editor and finally switch back to a Microsoft acount!!
It worked fine for me. If you do not know how to change the user folder name using Registry editor, make know it and I’ll try to help you!! Proceed with caution and only if you’re happy to create a system restore point before starting in the event something goes wrong. Open the Command Prompt in administrator mode.
Type wmic useraccount list full and press enter. In the resulting list, search for your existing account name. Take note of the SID number for your existing account name. Rename JonM Jon Martindale , for example. Be sure to set your new account name to what you want the user folder to be. Look for the profile you want to change the user folder name based on the SID value you noted earlier and open the ProfileImagePath value.
Change the value data to the new folder name—make sure it’s the same as your newly renamed account—and select OK. Restart your Windows 10 PC. If you followed the steps correctly, your Windows 10 user folder name should have your new account name. If you run into some issues accessing the account or the user profile is corrupted, use your system restore point to get back to a functioning system again, and if you still want to change the user folder name, run through the steps again.

After you enter your password, the cgange window will allow you change the username of your account but not the user folder. Open Registry editor. Registry editor will be open. Expand the ProfileList folder. To know what folder belongs to your profile, you should click down key directions key on the keyboard ftee click on each of those folder and see what’s in the right side.
The folder that belongs to you will show the path of your user folder as indicated in the screenshot below.
