However, I cannot get beyond a MS Office screen that says: “Setup is preparing the necessary files” and then I get a Windows error message that says “Setup has stopped working; A Problem caused the program to stop working correctly. I appreciate everyones help. So what I found out was, the pc feel off the domain. Because I was logged into an account that already had a profile loaded on the pc, I didn’t get the ‘trust relationship’ error.

I logged in with a different account to try something and that is how I found out that it fell of the domain. I re added it to the domain and it is now installing. The reason I believe for this, is because we use a licensing server. When I go to install Office , the progress bar sits with no progress and then the ‘stopped working’ error box pops up.

Have you tried with a different setup file? Have you had a look in task manager when it freezes? Does it freeze the whole machine? Did this machine used to have Office on it or is this a new machine? The computer doesn’t freeze.

Taskman shows the install and the error box, also I didn’t see any other running processes associated with office. Yes it had an old version of office I uninstalled. I used ccleaner to clean the registry. I also used a few ‘fix it’ applications from microsoft to verify that all registry was gone. Try using revo-uninstaller to clean up the rest of the old office install. Maybe something is still hanging out somewhere that other things have missed. Could be.

It’s on a thumb drive. I just reinstalled office on another pc about 5 minutes before hand and it worked beautifully. I’ll check it and get back to you.
