Anyone else? You can do this in a lot of other software – by retaining the NEF file complete with edits. My view is the Lightroom equivalent is at least 5 times more “splendid” than NX2 with far more flexibility. I am not saying do not “soldier on” with NX2 if you want to, just that there are far better and significantly more flexible options at relatively low prices.
Thanks for these. I’m sure Lightroom and Photoshop have evolved since I last used them. But when I did, I found them just too complicated and not intuitive at all. I enjoy taking photos but want to keep the editing part as simple as possible. And don’t usually like processed looking photos. After highlight, shadows, exposure and wb corrections all I would need is just some simple local adjustments to lighten up a face or sharpen an eye a bit and that’s it.
Anything with layers is to be avoided If I would force myself to re-learn Photoshop my opinion might change. But sounds like I need to check what the Lightroom is like these days — my opinion is outdated. In a way it is a bit like moving from film to digital.
